Disney Land!!!

Long story! Lots of pictures! And, Lots of fun!

I have wanted to take Megan to Disney Land for over a year! We were planning to go with Robyn, Scott and their family in the spring. Well, Scott lost his job in the fall of last year and that put them unable to go. We still planned to go in March. That is when Brent lost his job, and that made it so we could not go. Well, I put away the money that we had saved to go.. and held on to it! We tried not to use this money while Brent was out of work so that we could go to Disney Land as soon as he got a job. This was very important to me. Megan has been in that magical dreamy stage where she loves the Disney princesses and thinks that they are wonderful, and real. I wanted to watch my only daughter experience this magic that I felt would leave us if we waited to long.
Well, toward the end of summer when Brent found out that he would be getting a job, he and the boys really wanted to buy a camping trailer. It was not that I didn't want a camper. I didn't want to spend that money and miss out on taking Megan to Disney Land. Well, The boys won out. Due to the nature that our boys had already gone to Disney Land and they really did not care to go again. Don't get me wrong. We have had some wonderful trips as a family in the camper. But I was feeling sad.
One day I was walking with my friend, neighbor and co-worker (all the same person) and telling her that I was just going to go and take Meg all alone. Just me and her! It was the only way that I could afford to go at this point. She thought this sounded like a great idea, and thought it sounded so good... that she would join my with her daughter who is Megs very good friend.
Well, Katie got right on it. She looked at pricing, flights, rooms and all the fun extra things that we could do. She got everything all lined up. All I had to do was pay the money and we were all set to go.
The week before we were scheduled to leave, Katie got really sick. Day by day we would do everything we could think of to get her better. I even started an IV on her at her home. Very sadly, Katie was sick right up until we were supposed to leave.
In a panic I searched for a partner to go in her spot!!
My mother came to the rescue! If Katie could not have gone... my mom! I couldn't have asked for a better playing partner! My mom decided that she would like to find out if Drew and Rachel would allow her to take Lena. Rae was a bit nervous about sending her baby that far away from her. And was a bit sad about Lena experiencing Disney Land for the first time without her... but felt it was a great opportunity for Lena and grandma to bond.
Well, on October 12, 2009 at 3:00 AM. We finally were in the car... and on our way!!!

Mom, and I drove to California. We Left or house at 3AM. We finally left the valley at 4:30AM due to my wonderful brain, I forgot my purse, and had to turn around and drive back to Smithfield before we picked up Lena in Hyrum. The girls slept until about 9am that day. We were glad we had a good portion of the drive underway! We made our first stop in Beaver. No we did not have to pee, or get a drink. We were hailed down by a big black vehicle. For some reason it had these very annoying red and white lights flashing with a noisy siren. Yes, I was pulled over by a cop!!! As drove passed already slowing I took a quick look down at the speedometer. It then said I was going about 87. Well, That's not so bad I thought. I was sick to my stomach as I pulled off to the side of the road with my heart racing. My mother and I were saying "We will just tell the cop we know Travis." Travis is my cousin who works for the police department in Beaver. I said "Do you think that will work?" As we were talking I looked in the rear view mirror and burst out with joy!!! "It is Travis!!! I sang out! We could not believe the luck. As he walked up to the window I said out loud... before he had a chance to say a word.. and before he could even see who I was. "You can't give me a ticket!!!"
As he leaned through the window he said, "Why not, you deserve one" I think this was about when he recognized who we were, as my mom leaned over to say hello. Well, We talked a minute about his mothers up coming wedding, and he told me how lucky I was, and how disappointed he has. He said "You were the fastest one of the morning, and It has been a slow morning! Then we continued on our way!! (At his moms wedding he told me that I was going 98 miles an hour and the ticket would have been $240) I am so grateful to you Travis!!

We arrived to our hotel in Anahiem at about 4:30 PM. The girls were sooooo good in the car. They colored and visited with each other. Mom and I visited and really had a nice time for a 12 hour car ride. We checked in and plotted out or evening. The girls thought the elevator, and the cart we carried our bags in on were great fun. The really had a great time riding on the bus. The enjoyed that so much mom and I said... We should have just taken them on the bus in Logan.
We finally made it! We entered the gates of Disney!!! It was so great to be there!
That evening we rode one ride. The air planes. The girls really enjoyed it. After that it was time for the night parades and fireworks to start. When Brent and I took the boys we never got to see the fireworks. They were canceled due to bad weather. The weather report was not great for the next couple days... so we decided to make sure and see them the first night. The parade was fun... but the firework show was one of the best I have ever seen. It was probably about a half hour long. There were Halloween decorations everywhere. The trees were lit with orange lights, pumpkins everywhere. The Disney Characters were dressing in fun orange and black clothes, and the fireworks were themed Halloween! This I Halloween!!

Here are some pictures from Day one!! Stay tuned for the continuation of our wonderful trip!
BTW: Because Blogger is stupid the pictures are in the wrong order. Start at the bottom and scroll up!

Wow this trip took a lot of work on your part. You are such a good mom to really make it happen for your little girl. I love that Travis was the one to pull you over. I bet you were just so relieved!! I am glad you had a great time. I love all the pictures the little girls are so cute and look so excited. We are going to disneyland for Thanksgiving and we can't wait. I'm excited to see it all decorated for Christmas.

Too funny that Travis was the one that pulled you over. Glad it was you, not me. We probably wouldn't have recognized each other and I still would've gotten the ticket.

What a fun trip!
